Team Leader - Corporate Banking - Corporate Service & Commercial Banking

General Purpose:

The Team Leader is responsible for leading the Corporate Service & Commercial Banking team within the Corporate Banking Department. This role ensures efficient, standardized, and client-friendly service delivery, strong operational control, and effective coordination within the Corporate Banking Department, as well as the managing of an active portfolio of commercial clients. This position is accountable for team sales performance, service levels, and continuous improvement of Corporate Banking services, processes and client outcomes.

Position Highlights:

  • Govern Corporate Service operations, encompassing transaction processing, risk oversight, and client communication.
  • Certify that Corporate Service activities provide enhanced support to the front office operations, increasing our level of customer service while effectively managing risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Review small business credit presentations and credit cards for Commercial Banking.
  • Ensure regulatory KYC compliance of Commercial Banking portfolio. 
  • Lead, coach, and develop Corporate Service & Commercial Banking team; set KPIs, manage capacity, and drive a high-performance culture focused on execution excellence.
  • Engage Corporate Banking Account Managers on lending activities for medium and high complexity transactions.  
  •  Ensure strong documentation standards, workflow adherence, and timely follow-up on action points.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for Customer Service and Commercial Banking matters; coordinate effectively with Corporate Banking and other departments including but not limited to Payment Operations, Treasury, Cards, and Merchant Services.
  • Identify referral opportunities and cross-sell banking services (funding, foreign exchange, merchant services, cards services, payment services), while preserving clear coverage boundaries.
  • Produce management information on service levels, volumes, risks, and overdue actions; drive process improvements and standardization to enhance efficiency and control for Corporate Banking.
  • Provide motivation, guidance, training and support to the team members individually and collectively in order to maximize their skills, recognize their potential and develop the performance on their jobs.
  • Undertake such other responsibilities, tasks, and activities as may reasonably be required from time to time, whether or not expressly described above, in support of the Corporate Banking Department and the broader objectives of the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (HBO/HEAO or equivalent).
  • 7 – 8 years of relevant banking experience (corporate/commercial banking operations, portfolio servicing, or middle office).
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and workload planning.
  • Lending experience for small and medium-sized enterprises.
  • Solid understanding of corporate banking products and service requirements (funding, FX, merchant services, and basic credit administration).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; attention to detail; proficiency in Papiamento, English, and Dutch required; Spanish is an advantage.
