Manager Corporate Banking

General Purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Corporate & Platinum Banking, lead multiple large, specialized teams of commercial, credit and operational management of the corporate banking portfolio, Account Management team, Corporate Credit Structuring, and Customer Support Middle Office. Drive the strategic direction into disciplined portfolio growth. Partner with Management leadership to shape credit and commercial policy, oversee complex cross-functional operations between OB and AB, and navigate dynamic market, regulatory, and financial risk environments.

Position Highlights:

  • Lead and integrate multiple complex functional units across Corporate Banking. Establish operational governance, align inter-departmental workflows, and foster a performance-driven culture focused on risk discipline and service excellence.
  • Drive the Corporate Banking strategy and the direction of the Head of Corporate Banking into annual commercial, portfolio, service and operational priorities, and monitor delivery against agreed targets.
  • Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the tiered client segmentation model, including segmentation criteria, client assignment, coverage standards, service propositions, review cycles and performance reporting.
  • Influence and align internal and external senior stakeholders, including Executive Management, Credit Committees, regulators, and executives, to secure commitment for strategic initiatives, policy shifts, and complex credit approvals.
  • Manage the Corporate Banking Middle Office for Customer Support, setting service standards, workflows, controls and escalation protocols to ensure timely, accurate and consistent execution throughout the client lifecycle.
  • Drive sustainable portfolio growth through disciplined client acquisition, retention, cross-selling and share-of-wallet development, with solutions tailored to clients' strategic and financial needs.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for strategically important and complex client relationships, maintain dialogue with executive decision-makers and coordinate the Bank's internal specialists around an integrated client agenda.
  • Support stronger cross-island collaboration between OB and AB through shared pipelines, referrals, coordinated client plans and joint coverage, maximizing commercial opportunities across the jurisdictions in which the OBAB Group is present.
  • Identify, initiate and support syndicated loans, club transactions and participations, coordinating internal and external stakeholders throughout structuring, credit approval, documentation, execution and post-closing monitoring.
  • Oversee the origination, financial analysis, structuring, pricing and negotiation of credit proposals, ensuring that recommendations support the client's needs, the Bank's risk appetite and appropriate risk-adjusted returns.
  • Present and defend credit recommendations before the relevant Credit Committees, clearly articulating the commercial rationale, key risks, mitigants and proposed terms and conditions.
  • Direct the continuous improvement of risk frameworks, credit policies, and operational controls. Navigate highly dynamic regulatory, financial, and reputational risk factors (including KYC, AML, and sanctions compliance).
  • Oversee facility documentation, fulfilment of conditions precedent, collateral perfection, disbursement and post-approval administration, working with control functions to resolve exceptions promptly.
  • Monitor relevant commercial, risk, service and productivity indicators, and provide the Head of Corporate Banking, senior management and committees with timely management information and forward-looking insights.
  • Recommend product, pricing, sector and client-coverage strategies to the Head of Corporate Banking and contribute to business planning, budgeting, forecasting and resource allocation for the department.
  • Maintain effective procedures, governance and internal controls; promote process improvement, operational resilience and audit readiness across Corporate Banking activities.
  • Drive succession planning, executive coaching, and workforce development across Corporate Banking teams, building a resilient talent pipeline for critical leadership and technical roles.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in business administration, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Significant management experience in corporate banking, corporate credit or a comparable area within financial services.
  • 10 to 15 years of leadership experience in corporate banking, corporate credit, or financial services, with a proven track record of managing multiple teams and high-complexity portfolios.
  • Proven ability to lead experienced professionals, set direction, manage performance and develop talent.
  • Strong command of corporate credit analysis, deal structuring, pricing, documentation and portfolio management.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement client segmentation, coverage or operating-model improvements and embed them in day-to-day execution.
  • Experience with syndicated loans, club transactions, participation or other multi-lender financing structures.
  • Ability to build productive cross-island and cross-functional relationships and convert collaboration into measurable commercial opportunities.
  • Strategic and commercially focused judgment, supported by a strong understanding of the local and regional economic environment.
  • Sound risk judgment and the ability to balance growth, service, returns, policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Credibility and presence to engage senior clients, influence internal stakeholders and contribute effectively in management and Credit Committee forums.
  • Advanced financial analysis, research, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of KYC, AML, and other relevant banking control requirements.
  • Ability to manage service operations, process governance, management information and continuous improvement.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills, with discretion, tact and sound judgment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex matters clearly and persuasively.
